10:15 – 11:00 a.m. Opening Session: MSA: An Overview – Dr. Horacio Kaufmann & Dr. Lucy Norcliffe-Kaufmann
This introductory session will address the progression of symptoms, steps toward diagnosis and a research overview, including current studies and how to participate.
11:15 – 12:00 p.m. Support Group Meeting – Patients and Care Partners

Note: There will be two or three sessions per time slot and selected sessions will be repeated.
Workshop Topics:
Allied Health: A guide to practical strategies at home. PT/Speech/Occupational Therapy
Speech/Diet-Nutrition: This session will address speech, swallowing, nutrition, when to consider a feeding tube and relevant information.
Practical Planning: Guidance will be offered on how to file for disability insurance, plan for caregiving and financial needs, prepare for advanced directives/living wills, last wills, and brain donation arrangements.
Creative Arts: Research supports the benefits of the creative arts in neurological disorders. Enjoy some strategies and get a taste of music, dance, and art therapy.
Urology Workshop: A discussion of current treatment for urology issues related to MSA along with a demonstration of selected techniques for at home care.
How You Can Help: Many families want to be proactive and empowered as they battle MSA. Strategies to generate awareness, to start a support group, and effective fundraising techniques will be discussed.
